Five things you get when you join the Tangle Emporium

Tangletastic blog post header: 5 things you get when you join the Tangle Emporium online Zentangle membership

If you have been curious about the Tangle Emporium but not quite sure what you would actually be signing up for, this is the post for you. Because "monthly membership" doesn't really tell you much, does it?

Here is what you actually get.

1. A standing date with your creative self

Every Wednesday at 3 pm, there is a live session waiting for you. You don't have to plan it, organise it, or convince yourself to go. You just show up, pen in hand, and draw.

For most members, this is the bit they didn't know they needed. Not because tangling is complicated, but because having a regular time set aside, with someone else already there and ready to draw with you, is the thing that actually makes it happen. We all know what really happens in life. Life fills the gaps. This is your weekly self-care date.

2. A proper workshop every month

The first Wednesday of each month is the Workshop of the Month. This is where we dig into something a bit more interesting: drawing on coloured tiles, experimenting with different mediums like watercolour or artist markers, or exploring a theme. Think Art Deco, Steampunk, Gems and Jewels. Always something a bit unexpected and a way to take you along on a creative journey.

You don't need prior experience. You don't need to go away and practise beforehand. You just need to turn up and have a go.

3. Tangle Time Live (not once, but three times a month)

On the other Wednesdays, we have Tangle Time Live. These are the sessions where we draw new tangle patterns together on 2-by-2-inch tiles: relaxed, gentle, guided, and genuinely really lovely. It's a great way to build a library of tangle patterns you can play with later.

There is something about drawing alongside other people, even on a screen, that changes the experience entirely. The room goes quiet, in a good way. Conversations happen in between tangling. People share what they made. It is the kind of thing you look forward to all week.

In months with a fifth Wednesday, there is a bonus session, too. A gift of a Wednesday, basically.

4. A deep dive into one tangle every month

Week 3 is Tangle Exploration, which is one of my personal favourites. Instead of introducing new patterns, we take one tangle and really pull it apart, exploring how it changes depending on how you use it, what happens when you play with scale, or shading or placement, and how to make it feel like your own.

It is the session where things start to click. And where the penny drops that Zentangle® isn't about copying patterns. It's about understanding them well enough to make them yours.

5. A community of people who get it

The Tangle Emporium has its own Community Space, and it is a lovely, cosy space on the internet. Members share their tiles, cheer each other on, and check in between sessions. Nobody is there to perform or impress anyone. They are there because they need a bit of calm, and they found it here.

If you have ever felt like your need to slow down is a bit of an inconvenience in your own life, this is your place.

All of this is yours for £35 a month. No contracts, no long commitments. Just four or five Wednesdays a month, where you put down the to-do list, pick up a pen, and draw.

If any of this sounds like the kind of thing your Wednesday afternoons have been missing, I would love you to join us.

Come and draw with me. You can find out more and join us here.

Until next time, Ruby 👑 x
