This Week's Zentangle Challenge: Metallic Highlights

This week it's all about Metallic Highlights. Add small touches of metallic pen to accent your tile, just a little glint here and there to catch the eye.

How to Get Started: Three Ideas For You

To develop this idea, you might consider:

• Picture the spot where you'd love your eye to land on the finished tile, then add a tiny touch of metallic pen right there. A little glint goes a long way.

• Listen to your tile before you add any sparkle. Which part feels a bit quiet, and which part already feels full? Let that tell you where a touch of shine belongs.

• You don't need to know exactly where it all goes. Trust your hand, notice how much lighter the whole tile feels with one small accent, and remember you can always stop at one.

Here are Chris (Govan) and Pauline (Herbert's) inspirational tiles:

Chris said, "Here’s my tile or should I say mosaic, of a tile we did at Ruby’s September workshop. It is far from perfect, but I enjoy doing mosaics".

"I’ve used my Faber Castell pastel pencils for the tile ( I usually avoid these if I can). The gold appears to force the black of the tile backwards which creates more depth.

Remember, the Tangletastic Challenge isn't a 'challenge' per se. It's meant to be a fun tangling 'challenge' to help you develop your Zentangle tiles, so don't overthink it. It's all about playing. Your tiles can be as simple as a 2" x 2" square.

Once you've created your tile, please share it in the Tangletastic group and then add it to the relevant album in the group (our Tangle Gallery)
