The Tangletastic Challenge Wk 45 | Summer Brights Colour Splash: A Zentangle Colour Challenge

Tangletastic Challenge Week 42 Tangled Thoughts - the word is Courage

Hello, Tanglers! 🎉

It's Week 45 of the Tangletastic Challenge✨

This Week's Zentangle Challenge

This week, our Zentangle colour challenge is a Colour Splash, and the theme is Summer Brights. You can use any tangles; think summer tangle patterns and bold colour tangles. Choose bold, vibrant colours that capture summer energy. Enjoy tangling with colour.

How to Get Started - Three Ideas For You

To develop this idea, you might consider:

  • Pick just two or three bold colours (think hot pink, sunshine yellow, turquoise) and keep the rest of the tile black and white, so the colour really pops rather than getting lost.

  • Choose one tangle as your "splash" and colour that area boldly, leaving the rest more subdued, so you get a clear focal point rather than colour everywhere at once.

  • Try a pair of punchy complementary colours, like orange and teal or pink and lime, for maximum summer contrast and energy. Here's an orange and teal tile I created recently:

A tile I created using my own tangle, Dotty Daisy. It's great for creating repeated squares of four, and fun coloured in (I used Polychromos for this)

Here are samples from Pauline (Herbert) & Chris (Govan):

Pauline decided to experiment with black on the outside of the polygons. She says, "I started with a coloured background of magenta and orange. I used white pastel and polychromos pencil for the lighter areas with lines of white gellyroll for highlight". She used the new idea of Poligoly from Zentangle's International Day of Zentangle.

Chris used Arteza artist markers to create a trippy background, with Prima by Kimberley Wood, Garlicfly by Elisabet Hillerud, Segura by Yolanda López Segura and Flutterbi by Jessica Dykes

If you've enjoyed this challenge and you're thinking, "I want more of this", come and join us in the Tangle Emporium. It's where we do this every month: tangling, slowing down, switching the brain off for a bit, and actually enjoying the process.

A lovely little community of people who get it. It's just £35 a month, and there's no pressure, no hustle, just calm and creativity on repeat. We'd love to have you. The membership is closed now until autumn or maybe the new year. I haven't decided yet, but you can add your name to the Waitlist.

In the meantime, come and join my free community section of the Tangle Emporium, where we share and chat all things tangling without the mean algorithms so people don't see your posts lol.

Over to you!

Share Your Finished Zentangle Tile

Remember, the Tangletastic Challenge isn't a 'challenge' per se. It's meant to be a fun tangling 'challenge' to help you develop your Zentangle tiles, so don't overthink it. It's all about playing. Your tiles can be as simple as a 2" x 2" square.

Once you've created your tile, please share it in the Tangletastic group and then add it to the relevant album in the group (our Tangle Gallery)

I can't wait to see your tiles sparkle in the Tangle Gallery! 🌀👑

✨ Remember to stick to 'The Rules' ✨

  1. Tangle to the weekly prompt.

  2. Share your creation in my Tangletastic Facebook Group, and in the Tangle Gallery under the relevant prompt.

  3. Share it on Instagram using #TangletasticChallenge and #Tangletastic, and remember to tag me @ruby2shoesdesign. 📸💖 Sharing on Facebook works too! 🌀👑

  4. 💬 Share the Love: Comment on at least three other posts each week. This isn't a competition. Every tangle is magical! See someone's post without a comment? Please leave a little sparkle for them.

🌟 NB. ✨ While I'll be cheering you all on, I won't be commenting on every single post personally: The magic of this challenge is in us supporting one another as a community. 💖
